Armenia just made the first steps towards getting their first McDonalds in their country. Temur Chkonia a director of Coca Cola Bottlers in the country Georgia received a license to open a McDonald’s restaurant in Armenia. Temur Chkonia is a Georgian business man who has taken the first step towards the business venture. The delegation of the McDonald’s brand from Georgia will come to Armenia on February 7th, 2017. The delegation will look at the place of the McDonald’s and clarify other details while in Armenia. Chkonia commented on the news of his business venture pointing out that this is just the start and there is still tons of work to be done. Chkonia also pointed out that there needs to be legal issues settled to truly carve the path for the development of the restaurant. The construction of the McDonald’s restaurant will begin later 2017 once the legal issue and small details are worked out. The McDonalds restaurant will be located in Yerevan, Armenia. Yerevan is the capital of Armenia and will potentially hold the countries first McDonalds. The plan to open the McDonald’s includes the plan to open up 3-4 branches at the same time. Each branch will need around 2.5 to 3.5 million euros in investment to be created. Georgia’s first McDonald’s restaurant came in 1999, and the country now has five branches. If all goes well for the McDonald’s in Armenia then Armenia could receive more branches. Armenia receiving a McDonald’s is largely important to the culture of Armenia.
